A Sense of Place & The Fleeting Moment

I realized today, again, but differently that I have done a lot of really cool things in my life.
As a child I did a great many road trips with my family. My parents instilled in me that traveling and seeing different parts of the world were a desirable things. Differences from my own everyday environment and culture were pointed out with an open mind to history and circumstance. Beauty was admired and and photographed. Most of all I found that traveling with others was an occasion for closeness, group planning and compromise, flexibility in the face of the unexpected.
Of course it is a thrill to see the Great Wall, Machu Pichu or the pyramids. For me, though, I want to fill my bucket with drops of those experiences which offer up a fleeting moment or a sense of place.
